The first photo below marks the beginning of my ride over the highest pass of the trip - Trail Ridge - at 12,283 feet of altitude. I would camp on the opposite side of the pass for a week to do some hiking and to make another ride to the top of Trail Ridge without the luggage on the bike.
This entire page, and some of the following page records my extended stay in Rocky Mountain National Park.

The sun position could not be worse for this shot.

I was wondering:
How can there be so much wind but no air to breathe?

Above 12,000 feet elevation fighting a 50 mph crosswind and no oxygen in the air. I had to stop and rest every 30 seconds.

Bikes and blue skies go well together.

The windy summit! 12,000+ feet of elevation. You can see my clothes flapping in the wind and my bike blew over seconds after this photo was snapped. Click the thumbnail to hear my windbreaker getting thrashed.

That "gouge" in the mountain on the right is the road that I am now decending.

May 25. Trail Ridge Summit. 12,283 feet.
No doubt the highest bicycle in North America today.

The weather is getting worse. Time to get out of here.
