Birds and Bikes - Birdwatching by Bicycle

A bicycle is a great tool for bird watching or wildlife viewing. Quiet, fast (as compared to walking), and able to get where no other vehicles can, a bicycle can vastly increase the amount of ground covered per outing, or get you to places inaccessible to litter bugs, noisy people, and peace-destroying motor vehicles.

You know you are "out there" when the only tracks on the ground are bird an animal tracks. And bicycles are the most eco-friendly transportation means other than walking. They cause little damage as compared to even horses. And you don't have to feed your bike!

Lafitte Corridor Rails to Trails - NOLA

The Lafitte Corridor is an old railroad grade that will one day be converted into a paved and landscaped bicycle/running/walking trail starting at Canal Blvd in Lakeview, Traverse Mid-City, and proceed all the way to Louis Armstrong Park at the northern edge of the French Quarter.
The section shown in the video starts near Jefferson Davis Parkway and I leave the trail just a couple of blocks before the Canal Blvd Terminus.

NOLA Bike Shuttle - (Blooper After Credits)

I used my Bikes At Work trailer to help my local bike shop move their rental fleet back to their warehouse after Jazz Fest ended. It was a knockout beautiful day with a brilliant blue sky, puffy clouds and a nice breeze.

Surly Pugsley Bicycle

Had a bunch of photos of my Pugsley hanging around on my hard drive, so I compiled them into a video. Several of the photos were taken near the Mississippi River outside of New Orleans, and the Bonnet Carre' Floodway. A few at the end were snapped at Audubon Park, City Park (snow), and Uptown New Orleans (Fall colors). The photo (last one) with me in it is in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the Hooper Road Trail Complex.

Golf Course Bike Ride in New Orleans

Bayou Oaks golf course in New Orleans makes for a nice bike ride since Hurricane Katrina "fixed" it. Now it is a great place to ride, run, walk a dog, or just take a hike.

NOLA SNOW 2008

Since snow falls in New Orleans on an average of once every 10 years, we get pretty excited down here when it happens.
